Myths of climate change
There are many myths of climate change, and it’s important that you learn more about the climate change causes in order to understand where these myths came from. The one thing that is true is that the earth is becoming warmer this can be seen in many areas of the world with increasing heat waves, but the reason for the increase of temperature is where the main myths lie. One of the most common myths of climate change is that it is a part of a natural cycle. This myth stems from the fact that the arctic has warmed up before and we had our own Ice Age the Melt Down. But there is absolutely nothing natural about what we are experiencing today. We are the cause of this problem, and if we do not deal with it yesterday than we are facing a far worse problem than nicer warmer weather. Another one of the myths of climate change is that everything will be just fine warmer. As humans we have survived much worse situations such as droughts and other types of temperature changes. In theory this is correct, but the hardships that we will be facing are going to be far worse. Everything about our ecosystem will change and food will become scarce, plants will begin dying and there is no way for us to stop it when it all begins. Things have already started, rising seas in parts of the world, horrific hurricanes sweeping through the country destroying homes and land. This is only what is happening now when there has only been a 1.1 degree temperature change. The temperature is still rising, and each day we are a bit closer to devastating affects world wide. Another common belief is that the winters have been cold and there have been many cool summers as well, so it can’t be any global warming. This is one of the myths of climate change that can be argued depending on where you live. But the truth is that it’s getting warmer overall in all of the season. You can find many charts of the trend of the weather on the internet for the past 100 years and you will see the differences in black and white. These are only a handful of the many myths of climate change and you can find a ton of others by searching the internet. The climate is changing and there are many things that we can do to slow down the inevitable, but at this point there just might not be enough to stop it completely.
